Today’s Scripture
“For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.” — Luke 19:10 (NLT)
In this verse, Jesus articulates His mission on Earth: to seek and save the lost. This is a profound declaration of His purpose and the essence of the Gospel. Jesus refers to Himself as the “Son of Man,” a title emphasizing both His humanity and His role as the prophesied Messiah who comes to redeem humanity.
This mission underscores the compassion and grace of Jesus, who actively seeks out those who are spiritually lost, or alienated, offering them salvation and restoration. It is a call to acknowledge our own lostness without Christ and to embrace the hope and redemption He offers.
The context of this verse comes from the story of Zacchaeus, a tax collector and social outcast, whom Jesus intentionally visits, demonstrating that no one is beyond the reach of His love (Luke 19:1-9). Other scriptures that reinforce this message include Matthew 18:12-14, where Jesus talks about leaving the ninety-nine to find the one lost sheep, illustrating His relentless pursuit of each individual in need of saving.

Take Action
Reflect on your personal journey and consider areas where you might feel spiritually adrift or distant from God. Recognize these feelings and bring them to Jesus, trusting in His desire to guide and restore you. Additionally, identify at least one person in your life who might feel lost or marginalized. Reach out to them this week with an act of kindness or an invitation to share their story with you. Your intentional presence can serve as a bridge to lead them towards the hope and love found in Christ.

Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus, to seek and save the lost. I acknowledge my need for Your grace and guidance in areas where I feel lost. Help me to receive Your love fully and to extend that same compassion to others who are in need of Your saving grace. Empower me to be an instrument of Your mission, reflecting Your love to those around me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
