Today’s Scripture:
“The cup of suffering has been given to me by the Father. Shouldn’t I drink it?” – John 18:11 (NLT)
Feeling out of control can be unsettling, especially when life diverges from our planned path. Peter, a disciple known for his bravery, faced such a challenge in Gethsemane. He was prepared to fight for Jesus, but when confronted with the horror of Jesus’ arrest and crucifixion, Peter’s fear led to denying his beloved Savior three times. This reaction stemmed from a misunderstanding of Jesus’ mission and an inability to surrender control.
Similarly, we often struggle with situations that deviate from our expectations. We want God’s will, yet our inclination is to try to orchestrate it on our own terms. Like Peter, we may not comprehend the larger victory God is working through our circumstances. While we may envision a path of conquest and visible triumph, God’s plan often involves deeper, spiritual victories that are beyond our immediate understanding.
The challenge is to release our grip on control and trust that God’s plan is superior. When we surrender our own agendas and allow Jesus to work, we find peace in knowing that His purposes are always victorious—even if they manifest in ways we do not expect. Let go of the fear that comes from trying to manage life yourself and embrace the assurance that God is in control.
Pray This: Heavenly Father, I acknowledge that I often try to control the circumstances of my life. Like Peter, I sometimes miss Your greater plan because it doesn’t align with my expectations. Please help me to release my fears and trust in Your divine purpose. Teach me to surrender control, knowing that Your ways are higher than mine. I rest in the assurance that You are always victorious, regardless of how situations appear. Guide me to embrace Your will wholeheartedly. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
