Today’s Scripture
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” — Acts 1:8 (NLT)
This powerful verse reminds us that we are not left to our own devices to fulfill the calling of sharing the Gospel. Jesus promises the disciples, and by extension us, the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit. This divine power is not for our self-glorification, but to become witnesses of Christ’s love, grace, and truth. The spread of the Gospel begins in our immediate environments (“Jerusalem”), extends to our broader communities (“Judea”), reaches across cultural divides (“Samaria”), and ultimately touches all nations (“to the ends of the earth”). This mission is comprehensive, challenging us to step beyond our comfort zones with the Spirit’s help.
Ask Yourself
- In what areas of our lives do we need to rely more on the Holy Spirit for strength and courage to be Christ’s witnesses?
- How can we practically start witnessing in our immediate environment today?
Take Action
Consider setting aside time each day this week to seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance in prayer and meditation. Pay attention to opportunities where you can witness to others through words and actions, whether at work, in your community, or within your family. Start by sharing a simple testimony or extending an act of kindness that reflects Christ’s love.
Pray This
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit who empowers us to share Your love with those around us. Help us to recognize and seize every opportunity to be Your witnesses. Fill us with boldness and wisdom, breaking down the barriers of fear and hesitation. May our lives reflect Your glory and extend Your kingdom here on earth. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
