Today’s Scripture
“But the Lord God warned him, ‘You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden—except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.'”
— Genesis 2:16-17 (NLT)
In this passage, God places Adam in the Garden of Eden, providing him with both abundant resources and a specific command. Adam is free to eat from any tree except for the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. This restriction underscores the importance of obedience to God. It also signifies the boundaries God places for our own well-being. This command is not merely about restriction but about trust and faith in God’s wisdom over our own understanding.
Ask Yourself
- In what areas of your life are you struggling to trust and obey God’s guidance?
- How can you better discern and respect the boundaries God has set for your own good?
Take Action
Today, take a moment to identify an area in your life where you have been resistant to God’s commands or wisdom. Consciously choose to trust His guidance and make a practical step towards obedience. This could mean refraining from an action, seeking forgiveness, or starting a new habit that aligns with God’s will.
Pray This
“Lord, I acknowledge that Your wisdom far surpasses my own. Help me to trust in Your commands and see them not as restrictions but as pathways to true freedom and life. Guide my steps and soften my heart to be obedient. Empower me to live within the boundaries You have lovingly set. Amen.”

I know that everything I have is because of God and His grace and blessings. However, I still struggle with not waiting for things to happen in His time, and I step in the way to try and make things happen.
