Today’s Scripture:
“Even if someone wrongs you seven times a day and each time turns again and asks forgiveness, you must forgive.” — Luke 17:4 NLT

Forgiveness can be one of the most challenging virtues to embody, especially in today’s fast-paced, often unforgiving world. We live in an age where grudges can linger in our hearts and affect our relationships, productivity, and peace of mind. It’s easy to justify our anger when someone has wronged us. Yet, holding onto bitterness does not punish the person who hurt us; instead, it keeps us shackled to the pain of the past.

Consider a time when you were hurt or betrayed. It’s natural to feel wounded and to want justice. But dwelling on that pain can lead to a cycle of resentment and self-pity, leaving no room for healing or growth. The enemy thrives in these moments of bitterness, whispering that you are justified in your anger—but that’s not the path Jesus wants you to walk.

Jesus calls us to forgive as an act of liberation, not only for others but for ourselves. By forgiving, you release yourself from the chains of anger. It’s not about excusing the wrongdoing; it’s about freeing yourself from its hold over your life. This doesn’t mean you have to forget what happened or ignore the need for accountability. Instead, it’s about choosing peace and freedom over bitterness and bondage.

Every day offers new opportunities to practice forgiveness. Each act of forgiving lets in a little more light and freedom, allowing you to live the life Jesus intended for you—one abundant in grace and peace. Reflect on those in your life you need to forgive; let go of the past hurts and embrace the freedom found in forgiveness.

Pray This: Lord, I struggle with forgiveness, especially when I feel deeply hurt. Please help me to release any bitterness I am holding onto, just as You have forgiven me time and time again. Reveal to me any hidden grudges in my heart and give me the strength to forgive those who have wronged me. Let Your peace fill my heart as I walk in Your path of grace and forgiveness. Amen.
